Working life is just boring. Vacations/short breaks can bring surprises, refresh the mind and body to keep us to move on further. 1 day trip to Tanjung Sepat during the weekend is just right to flush away the tiredness of continuous working life.

Tanjung Sepat, 2 hours distance from Kuala Lumpur, is a small town located at the coastal area, southwest part of Selangor. Relishing seafood is a popular activity here. People from all walks of life and creed come to Tanjung sepat for its fresh and reasonably priced seafood. Seafood enthusiasts like us just can't wait any further to try it out right after we reached Tanjung Sepat.

We were recommended by my friend's colleague to Hong Seng Seafood Restaurant for its seafood. The shop is located just besides the beach and near to the popular lover's bridge of Tanjung Sepat.

Fried oyster, dried chili bamboo clam, claypot seafood tofu, teochew style steamed fish, white clam in superior soup, marmite crayfish were chosen from the fantastic varieties offered by the restaurant.

I was attracted by the Marmite crayfish which is served together with their shells. Wow, the crayfishes were big in size! That was the first time that i consumed such a big size crayfish.

The fried oyster served here has a huge mound of tiny, juicy , glistering oysters poured over the fried egg and batter base, which is difference to the ones we are accustomed to where the eggs and oysters are fried together.

The seafood are definitely fresh. The taste of the clean, unadulterated sweetness of the seafood says it all.

TANJUNG SEPAT, a seaside town between Sepang and Banting, is small in size but relatively rich in terms of food attractions. It has, among others, fresh seafare restaurants, a popular pau (Chinese buns) outlet and a mushroom centre which serves steamboat with assorted mushrooms and allows for homestay. Hong Seng Seafood, run by brothers Teh Kian Koon (the chef) and Teh Kian Hui (the front manager), is a great place to stop at for a meal. Locally-trained and serving a mixture of dishes of Hokkien and local origin, the brothers recently took over this business started in 2003. Like most other seaside towns with a strong fishing tradition, the seafood is locally sourced and immensely fresh.

  • Claypot with five sea treasures – crabs, prawns, fish like pomfret (tau tay or pek chniau) or garupa, fish maw (hoo pioh) and sea cucumber (hai som)
  • Steamed tray with four special ingredients (pork tendons, fish maw, razor clams and sea cucumber) cooked with vegetables like mushrooms, peas and carrots
  • Steamed fish in various styles (the steamed garupa fish head with chai por, in the our photo, was extremely fresh)
  • Crabs in various styles
  • Tau fu kan (tau fu cooked in a thick soup with seafood)
  • Fried four vegetables (kacang botol, petai, brinjal and long beans)

新丰盛港鱼翅海鲜酒家

坐南向北,沿岸而建的新丰盛港鱼翅海鲜酒家,汇集了海边观景、休闲和享用美食佳肴的绝佳环境,尤其是饕客在黄昏时分能观赏迤逦的晚霞和渔船归航的点点灯光。

本酒家是属于家族生意,由哥哥郑建辉掌管厨房,和弟弟郑建坤负责招待客人。
这里地点适中,地方宽大,泊车方便,价钱公道,非常欢迎各界人士前来用餐、旅游团套餐和办喜庆寿筵,可筵开超过100席。

本酒家是名副其实的乡村菜馆,虽然设备简单,但是最大的卖点就是滨港特色。因为地利之便,一切材料皆就地取材,因此能做到海鲜都是鲜猛蹦跳才下锅,先天条件胜于一切。尤其是清蒸白蛤,选用的是颗颗肉质饱满丰盈的厚壳蛤。

本酒家的招牌菜“海鲜伍宝”更是受到许多饕客的青睐。这道海鲜一品锅是以螃蟹熬汤,加入昂贵的海参、鱼鳔、斗昌、大虾,料足味香汁美。另一道“汶中江鱼”是可遇不可求的家乡菜,以道地酒家做法,用姜葱蒜爆炒后加入菜莆和芹菜汶煮,中江鱼肉细腻清甜,鱼皮爽口弹性足。

其他海鲜菜色包括干贝扒翅、海味四宝、海参蹄筋、鲨鱼炒迦哩粉,黑椒虾婆,各式蒸鱼(潮州蒸、清蒸、菜莆蒸、东炎蒸)、四大天王、梅菜芥兰、江鱼番薯叶等都是令人食指大动的佳肴。
